Eric Benson, 4/7/2022: Good topics for discussion onKennedy A1440:

• Is the legislative subgroup aligned on what we want from the bill and any changes we are seeking?
• We wouldn't want to bring a huge group, so who are the correct people, 5-6 max?
• What are the materials and resources we would to provide the Assemblyman in support of electrification?

Staff said this bill was carried over from last session, she thinks it was some nonprofit or think tank that approached and provided some base language, but didn't remember exactly who off the top of her head. 

• S1170 is the Senate counterpart https://legiscan.com/NJ/text/S1170/2022
• The Assemblyman is supportive, but thinks it needs more work, so it is not a top priority for him at this time. That means it is not likely moving this May / June. The Leg takes the summer off and are not likely to meet again until Sept or Oct. I hate delay, but the good news is he seems willing to engage and this gives us time to build public support
• He hasn't even asked or run it by leadership yet. Also, bill is not in his committee, it is in housing. Second point doesn't matter as much as first point, because no bills get any hearing without approval from leadership first.

He would be glad to meet, get our feedback and discuss the bill further. Staff member inquiring about some availability (probably late april). She will try to give us three dates and times to work off. I'll circulate and let you know as soon as I hear from her.
